A Cisco Certified Network Associate performs network administration tasks such as installing, configuring, and operating simple networks. Through a combination of training and real-world experience, CCNAs can provide solutions for installing and configuring networks, optimizing WAN performance through Internet access solutions, and providing remote access via dial-up connectivity. Candidates are typically technical professionals seeking credentials, individuals who are new to networking, or those who are re-training. This certification is a prerequisite for the Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) designation.

NETg's eight-course curriculum is intended to help prepare certification candidates for the CCNA ™ exam 640-801. Over 40 hours of Training

Developed in Association with Cisco Systems®

Interactive CBT Consists of the following courses:

Internetworking Technologies

Internetworking Technologies 2.0 (IT 2.0) is written for technical professionals seeking a thorough overview of internetworking technology. Students are introduced to the networking principles and protocols they will encounter when supporting corporate internetworks. Basic networking concepts and specific internetworking protocol information are presented, however no Cisco equipment specific information is included in this course.

    Internetworking Technologies - Part 1

This course will cover basic internetworking, internetworking components, and Local Area Networks (LANs). Students will learn how to: Identify the basic characteristics of internetworking; identify the uses of the seven layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model for transmission of data; identify the fundamental structures of LANs and WANs; identify the uses of bridging and switching; identify routing protocols; identify the concepts of basic network management; identify the uses of LANs; and, identify the uses of Ethernet, Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) and Token Ring.

    Internetworking Technologies - Part 2

This course will cover Wide Area Network technologies, switching technologies, and source-route bridging technology. Students will learn to: Identify WAN technologies including ISDN, PPP, Frame Relay, SMDS, HSSI, SDLC, and X.25; identify the benefits and functionality of switch technology; and, identify source-route bridging technologies.

    Internetworking Technologies - Part 3

This course will cover Internet protocols, NetWare protocols, and AppleTalk. Students will learn to: Identify Internet protocol basics including addressing and routing; identify the basic operation of a NetWare-based client server environment; identify the characteristics of Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX), Novell IPX data encapsulation, Service Advertisement Protocol (SAP) filters, SAP transport layer protocols, and upper layer protocols and services; identify AppleTalk network components; identify the components of Systems Network Architecture (SNA); and, identify routed protocols including DECnet, VIP, and XNS.

    Internetworking Technologies - Part 4

This course will cover contemporary routing protocols, enhancing and supportive protocols, and network management. Students will learn to: Identify contemporary routing protocols; identify the key features of routing protocols and protocols which provide support or enhancement to routing protocols; and, identify the functions employed by several widely deployed network management environments.

Cisco Interconnecting Network Devices (ICND),

Cisco Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices 1.0 (ICND 1.0) series teaches the concepts, commands, and practice required to configure Cisco switches and routers in multiprotocol internetworks are presented. Students get information to identify and recommend the best Cisco solutions for small to medium-sized businesses. ICND also provides the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting information that technical support people require to install and configure the Cisco products. Cisco switches and routers, cabling, configuration, device management, and network troubleshooting issues are covered in this series.

Cisco Interconnecting Network Devices Part 1: Establishing Workgroups

This course covers internetworking basics, cabling and device startup, connecting and configuring devices, and documenting a network environment. Students will learn how to: Describe how data moves through the network; identify the functions of a hub, a switch, and a router; select the appropriate Cisco equipment given a network design; cable a LAN and a WAN and set up a console connection to a Cisco device; configure Cisco switching and routing devices and the command line interface used with Cisco devices running IOS software; and, gather information about neighboring and remote devices.

Cisco Interconnecting Network Devices Part 2: Configuring Switches

This course covers switch operators and extending switched networks. Students will learn to: Understand various operations of switches; configure and verify using show commands the configuration of the Catalyst 1900 switch; identify concepts and benefits of using VLANs, as well as configure a VLAN to segment management and broadcast domains in a network.

Cisco Interconnecting Network Devices Part 2: Configuring Routers

This course covers Interconnecting Networks with TCP/IP, IP Routing, IP Traffic Management, and IPX Routing. Students will learn how to: Identify the devices and procedures used to interconnect networks using TCP/IP. This will be done by providing instruction concerning the functions of TCP/IP and how to configure IP addresses; identify the function of routing protocols such as distance vector protocols and the process of IP routing configuration and verification; configure a router to dynamically determine routes; identify the functions of access lists and the process by which they filter network traffic; configure an IP access list; identify the basic IPX operation, routing protocols, access lists, and configuration tasks necessary to deal with congestion in an IPX network.

Cisco Interconnecting Network Devices Part 4: Connecting to WANs

This course covers WAN connections, ISDN, BRI, Legacy DDR, and Frame Relay PVC Services. Students will learn how to: Identify the WAN connections and discuss the HDLC and PPP protocols; identify the ISDN BRI operation and legacy DDR; identify how to configure ISDN BRI and legacy DDR on a Cisco router; identify the Frame Relay and its operation; identify the skills to configure and verify Frame Relay and Frame Relay subinterfaces on a PVC connection.
